What Does Love Mean to God and Jesus?

In my lifetime, I have heard many people say what the word love means to them. But in my opinion, love is personal, and it is a choice about how you see it in your life. Remember, it is about how you see Love for yourself, Family, Lovers, Friends, wives, Husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, animals, and even some strangers you know but don't know, like fellow workers you don't know but would like to know. I want to ask you: do you think all the love that you have in your life is the same type of love you have for everything in your life?

Love is a powerful word all by itself. Yet some people cannot see that in the word itself. So, I hope after reading my post, you get a stronger meaning of the word LOVE.

So, let's start with the dictionary definition of the word love. In my Webster-New Universal-Unabridged Dictionary.

It states: Love 1) A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. 2) A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection as for a parent, child, or a friend. 3) A sexual passion or desire. 4) A person toward whom love is felt, beloved; a person or sweetheart. 5) Used in indirect address as a term of tender affection, or the like ect: would you like to see a movie, love? 6) A love affair, an intensely amorous incident; amour. 7) Sexual intercourse, copulation. 8) A personification of sexual affection as Eros or Cupid. 9) Affectionate concern for the well-being of others: The love of one's neighbor. 10) Strong predilection, enthusiasm, or liking for anything: Her love for books. 11) The object or thing so liked: the theater was her great love. 12) The benevolent affection of God for his creation, or the reverent affection due from them to God. Sorry, but I want to share a different understanding of the word Love.

In this dictionary. I do not feel that what it is telling you is all I wanted to share with you about the love I know and believe in. But still, it makes some great points about the word Love. Yet I am you to finish this post.

In John 3:16, it states: God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son to give us a chance to be saved from our sin. He gave his life for this cause. But we still don't understand what true love means to our Creator and his Son, Jesus Christ. So, let me share with you what I believe the word love means to them. And now I will show you the most excellent way.

In 1st Corinthians, Chapter 13, verses 1 to 13, it states: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Verse 2: If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. Verse 3) If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Verse 4) Love is patient, Love is kind; it does not envy, it does not boast, and it is not proud. Verse 5) It is not rude, it is not-self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Verse 6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Verse 7) It always protects, always hopes/ always perseveres. Verse 8) Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; Where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. Verse 9) For we know in part and we prophesy in part. Verse 10) But when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. Verse 11) When I was a child, I talked like a child; when I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Verse 12) Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully; even as I am fully known. Verse 13) And now these three remain; Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of these is Love.
